Rashad Andrews, a 6-4 guard from St. Anthony's in New Jersey, has received some interest from DePaul lately.

Here is the HoopsReport rankings for 2012.

I have to agree that Simpson is the top player in the class, and Randolph is a stud player, but his height is going to keep him from being a major player (if he is 5'6, than I am 6'6").

From these players I'd like DePaul to make a hard run at a few of them...

I know he's a small guard, but Derrick Randolph is a total stud in the backcourt.  I think 5'7" might even be stretching it, but he has the ability to down it from deep, and he's just lightening quick up and down the floor.  His defense also reminding me of Rashon Burno, who I never liked that much b/c of his offense, but his defense was always strong.

I didn't get to see him, but respect what Freshjive has to say, but I have nothing but great things about Aaron Simpson from North Chicago.  I know he's able to just kill people from the perimeter and knife through a defense.  When Mark Reeves from Rivals.com ran his exposure camp in October, Simpson was there (I didn't get to see his game though), and he just loved the kid.

I know that Orr poing guard C.J. Jones has scrimmaged with the Blue Demons this past year and really held his own, even as a sophomore.  He's lightening quick and really knows how to get to the basket.  Many people say he's the next Jacob Pullen, although I see better speed in him, but a lesser shot....however with the same leadership skills.  If I were to pick a PG for 2012, right now I'd lean with him.

I haven't seen him yet, but I keep hearing Charles Harris from Lake Forest Academy is a total freak of nature.  I would expect Oregon State to have dibs on this kid because of Pomeday being an assistant there, but he's probably the best 2-guard in his class.

I'm hearing really great things about Plainfield's Brian Bennett.  I know he's between 6'8" and 6'10", and really has some great skill in the post.  Someone from Rivals told me he's going to blow up by the end of this summer like Meyers Leonard did after his sophomore year.  I know Illinois is already on him.

When I saw Aaron Simpson at Spiece, he played like he was on the Lamont Bryant teams at Marshall; he just swarmed to the ball on defense and with the ball in his hand on offense, he ran everything up-tempo. What impressed me the most about him was his control. He would go from one end of the court to the next in no time, get into the lane, where the opponent would collapse on him, looking to get a charge, and he could either work his body to avoid the contact for a layup, stop and pop, or, what he did most often, kick the ball out to an open teammate behind the three point line, and again avoid the contact.

looks like OP and staff are on Aaron Simpson per this report by ChicagoHoops

I like his wants and needs for a program

Simpson remains highly popular with schools from around the United States, and has a clear idea of what he is looking for in a school. ?Michigan, Illinois, DePaul, St. Louis, Colorado, and Florida are all coming very hard at the moment. I am looking for a good solid team. A school that has a good background, and also a school that likes to play up-tempo, and push the ball down the other team?s throat. Also, I would like to have a good coach who I can flourish under.?

Let it be known that during the 2012/2013 season DePaul basketball has officially become known as "The Purnell Error"

Simpson would be an outstanding get for DePaul and right now, he might be my top target in Illinois for 2012. I like him or Jaylen Beckham from Lexington KY to come in and be the PG.

Coaches/programs can start to send Recruiting materials and start making 1 phone call per month to 2012 prospects starting tomorrow.

That being said, who should get calls/materials tomorrow?

I do not know much about the 2012 class yet.  That said, have heard good things about Harris at Lake Forest (?) and the kid at Simeon, Taylor (?).  We will have 6 schollies for that class so we can go deep.  Add a few from Chicago/Illinois and a few from around the country that fit Purnells\'s system.

Derrick Randolph, from Whitney Young, is saying that DePaul is pursuing him. He is a short PG, but his spring has been outstanding and some believe he is the top Illinois prospect for 2012.

DePaul will be getting a visit on August 4th from Kyle Anderson, a 6'7" do it all. Rivals lists him as the top PG for 2012, 11th overall. ESPN has him at 18th overall, 6th best SF.

Per the following Rivals.com story on Kyle: http://depaul.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1090823:

Considered by some to be a point guard, others look at him as a swingman or highly skilled face-up four man. That discussion is more a testament to his all-around game than anything else.

In sent a flurry of texts asking about this kid, and who he compares to.  What comparison was I getting: Evan Turner and Shaun Livingston.  Not too shaby, and definitely a Purnell-type recruit.

Another name for 2012 which DePaul is involved with is 6'10" Phillip Nolan from Milwaukee Vincent. Nolan is a very athletic big man who will make his impact on defense. His offense has a ways to go and needs to add strength. Ranked 51st best by ESPN, 92nd by Rivals.

We've also offered Ron Patterson out of Indianapolis.
He's a 6'3" shooting guard ranked #65 nationally.......
We're up against half of the B10 on this guy, but who knows?

Here is a Kyle Anderson story - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/421248-college-basketball-rumors-kentucky-recruiting-the-next-evan-turner

I have a strange feeling that this is another Billy Garrett known the kid for a long time sort of situation.

Zagsblog story - http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/07/16/kyle-anderson-drawing-major-looks/

Nice gloss over job mentioning his upcoming visit to DePaul. Starting to think there may be an agenda.
