I just confirmed with a team source that 6'5" guard Moses Morgan committed to the Blue Demons, choosing them over the likes of Indiana and Oklahoma.  Morgan committed to the Demons a few hours ago, and will be on campus until tomorrow late morning.

Per Mark Reeves from Rivals Hoops: "I really like this kid.  He's a big guard, physical, can post up, and can really shoot it when he's open.  He takes a good amount of difficult shots too, which is why his percentages are kind of low, but he can create his own shot."

This is DePaul's second Top 150 commit in as many days.

Confirmed here first, and it's free!

Have to like the past two days if you are a Blue Demon fan.

If you have a Rivals.com subscription, here is some video on Morgan.

Yeow!!  Now on for the bigs.

Aren't there any others in the Chicago market who will open doors for DePaul?
We have to gain entry to the CPL and CL.

It may have taken a while, but it definitely seems like the new assistants are finally making their mark on the recruiting trail.  From what I have read about Morgan, it seems like he can be an effective scorer at the college level.  He has a nice shot and I have seen "smooth" attached to his name quite a bit.

I have seen some questions about his energy level and desire on the floor, which bothers me, but I would hope playing in a conference like the Big East would motivate him enough.  As long as he is committed and motivated to keep on getting better, this could be a real nice pickup.

Now, go get a post player.

Been a while, but nice to have something to be excited for regarding our Demons.  Thank you Ciep and Fresh for continuing to break the stories first!

Some Indiana writers, who have very good sources, are saying not quite yet on this. So I have a small bit of hesitation on this right now.

I've learned to question Cieps at ones own risk... Wink

IF Tracy can land another recruit, say a quality big man, I think he may have secured his place as the frontrunner to replace JW when he "retires".

I like the idea of a big back court that can shoot the three.

I suspect our class will rank barely within the top 10 of the BE if we land a good big man.

Where's Seyton?  I'd like to get an Indiana fan's perspective on this.  Sounds like we could have the makings of a pretty good back court, something that has been missing from DePaul BBall for far too long.

That is a fair assessment. However, it would be much needed improvement on the recruiting front than what has been seen. As highly touted as the 2007 class was; when you break it down, it may not have been all that it was hyped to be. It had two very great prospects, and a handful of moderate level prospects.

I guess so, as now other media avenues are stating he is a DePaul commitment.

Well, since Newhouse is claiming it to be, I guess it must be official  Grin

Like I said, my cousin is a sophomore at DePaul and hangs with the team.  Morgan was with a bunch of them, and said he's a Blue Demon.  Can't get better than that.

Last night I was talking to a person that is a member of the other site, and they said it perfectly: "The $10 a month is totally a waste.  The premium board has everything you guys have for free, except they'll have a blurb like 'so and so is going to commit to Bowling Green.'  You guys always beat them on the news".

Keep it here and let's talk some DePaul Basketball.....the best sources, the best news!

Wasn't responding to you.  Someone just texted me saying Newhouse was claiming it as news around 11am today, so just stated he was claiming it.

Funny thing is people are thanking him and saying "good job!".  Sorry dudes, beat him by almost 24 hours.  Come on over and talk some hoops!

Not to kick a dead horse, but I can only imagine what the 2010 recruiting class would look like if the old staff was here.

Didn't realize they (old staff) abandoned 2010.  Although, it was pretty late in the game to start.  There is still some premium wood left out there.

Looking at some Indiana sites and perhaps to justify losing Morgan, a few are saying "well...Indiana never did offer him."

I enjoy reading the Indiana view points on this; we learn today that he was expendable when IU got Victor Oladipo.

This is getting interesting. Possible Juco-Big man on the horizon?

Why no love from the local papers about Young or Morgan?

Good news indeed.  Now is the time to start working on Hamilton, Parker and Foster.  Some of the others may just be too late.  Honestly, I didn't think they'd get anyone for this year - it was just too late in the game.  Happy with Young and Morgan.

They may turn out to be good players, but why so much excitement.Hell we had the class with Richardson and Simmons and pretty much did nothing, then we had Mac and Dar and did not win a conference game in the regular season and they were top 50 players.I drink as much blue kool-aid as anyone but the problem is the coaching obviously.I really want to be optimistic but JW kills that pipe dream

Maybe Jerry could do his best "Weekend at Bernie's" imitation, and asst coaches just carry him to the games prop him up sit him down, waive to the crowd, etc. and make all the calls.

Kiiding aside, I think JW may surprise some peope, to the upside, I know the upside is quite big.
